Below are Hotels that we recommend as well-suited for families coming to Napa!
(Based on Maggie’s rating system, 1- 10)
Each spacious cottage offers 400 interior square feet of immaculately kept indoor living space, with French doors that open up to 400-800 square feet of serene private outdoor living space for a secluded Napa Valley retreat all your own. For families with children, ideally reserve the cottages with separate living room and bedroom. Fantastic toddler pool and huge olympic swimming pool that seems never crowded. I rate Carneros a 10 for kids if parents pick at least the separated one bedroom cottages. Cottages with one room only - I rate as a 5. It’s very small.
Meritage (Suites) (South Napa) - Rated 7
For groups traveling together or couples who want more space, Meritage suites combine two cottages joined by an extended deck and garden. Meritage suites are perfect for guests who want plenty of space for relaxing and entertaining. One and two-bedroom suites are available from 900 square feet to 1200 square feet and feature up to 800 square feet of private and spacious outdoor living space with plastic grass for kids to run around a bit. Good pool area, and free quality made food in concierge room during various times. Kid friendly menu. I rate it a 7 because rooms are small and sound-proofing needs improvement. Beds take up most space, but there is a small table and chair area for art projects/games. No more than 2 kids recommended.
Vino Bello (South Napa) - Rated 10
Two Bedroom Condo
Two-bedroom suites offer 1,329 square feet of living space, with a large master bedroom and master bath and a second bedroom with king bed.
Both bedrooms have 27" wall mounted plasma screen TV's. (Same as Meritage) Vino Bello always gets a 10 rating
River Terrace Inn (Southeast Napa) - Rated 7
Open and airy, most rooms offer balconies where cool breezes and brilliant sunsets inspire peaceful moments of private reflection at our hotel in Napa Valley. A refreshing departure from standard Napa Valley accommodations, the spacious rooms are elegantly appointed with every modern luxury and convenience. FFWC - River Terrace has smaller rooms, so no more than 2 children with adult is recommended. River Terrace is just a block away from a nice outdoor space near Oxbow. RT gets a 7 rating, as rooms are a bit small.
Westin Verasa (Southeast Napa) - Rated 8
Two Bedroom King Suites feature deluxe living and dining rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and luxurious bedroom accommodations. Each kitchen features oak slab cabinets with stainless steel finished pulls on lower cabinets, while solid granite slab countertops and granite tile backsplashes complete the kitchen's sleek look and feel. All of our kitchens boast stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher, refrigerator, electric range (Same as above with it being a block away from the park at Oxbow. Also, nice pool and hottub, but keep in mind that it’s a very busy area always full of people) Westin gets a 10 rating for rooms with full kitchen and separate bedrooms. Up to 4 kids can work well. Smaller rooms get an 8, as they still have good space. No more than 2 children recommended.
Silverado Resort has nice outdoor spaces, with swimming pools throughout it’s many acres. Accommodations vary greatly. Our preference for kids are the condo’s on Cottage Ave. Bottom floor has outdoor patio and some grass area (rest is for golf) Room service with kid friendly foods. Silverado gets a 10 rating for Cottage Ave, smaller rooms in main lodging area get a 7, as sound proofing needs much improvement.
Embassy Suites Napa (Near Downtown Napa) - Rated 7
At Embassy Suites Hotels every room is a two-room suite perfect to spread out and relax. With a private bedroom and separate living area there is more than enough room for family, work or both. Their suites offer all the comforts of home to make your stay more enjoyable with a TV in each room, living area with a sofa bed, armchair and well-lit work table, wet bar, refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker.
Rooms are pretty good size for 2 or LESS children. Separate living room with pull out bed and bedroom. No outdoor area, except duck pond. No grass area to run around. Embassy Suites gets a 7 rating.
Napa Marriott (Mid Napa) - Rated 7
For additional space and amenities, upgrade to the Spa Concierge guestrooms and enjoy enhanced garden views as well as exclusive access to the Concierge Lounge, which offers complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and business services. This place has an OK outdoor space with plastic grass for kids to run around a bit. Good pool area, and free quality made food in concierge room during various times. Kid friendly menu. I rate it a 7 because rooms are small and sound-proofing needs improvement. Beds take up most space, but there is a small table and chair area for art projects/games. No more than 2 kids recommended.
Hotel Yountville - Rated 8
Get the suites which measure approximately 650-800 square feet, most premium suites feature a generous private garden patio. Additional in room amenities include a fieldstone fireplace, an intimate sitting area, European Amenities, a mini bar and a coffee/tea maker. Complimentary wireless Internet access keeps you connected and the 42-inch LCD television offers premium TV channels. NVN loves Hotel Yountville. Rooms are well sound-proofed, beautifully remodeled, and nice pool area. I rate it an 8, because this is still a boutique style hotel that caters to couples. Needs a kid friendlier menu, and there is no grass area to run around. Nearest park is a 20 minute walk, as they are in the process of refurbishing park across the street.
Best Western Elm House (Near Downtown Napa) - Not yet rated
A lovely wine country inn offering the charm of a B&B with the amenities of a boutique hotel. Outdoor courtyard, seating area. (NVN not as familiar with this one)
Harvest Inn St. Helena - Rated 7
For a true vineyard vacation, experience Napa style luxury in our Vineyard View Collection Spa accommodations with plush king sized beds, club chairs or couches facing oversized wood burning fireplaces, along with alfresco private spa hot tub, and expansive
wine country views from a secluded porch or terrace, so close you can practically touch the vines. This is a good place for kids as long as parents choose larger rooms. Some rooms are ½ size and not appropriate for more than 1 or 2 adults, no children. Great outdoor space to walk around in, but not to run. Though child friendly, it still is more for couples. I rate it a 7.
Villagio (Yountville) - Rated 7
Junior Suites are Villagio’s most spacious accommodations offering a separate sitting area and oversized bathroom. They are appointed with a King bed or two Queen beds, a private patio or balcony, a fireplace, a sitting area, a refrigerator, robes and complimentary perks including coffee and Internet. Villagio is very good, for no more than 2 kids. Though adult oriented lodging, the rooms are spacious and grounds nice to walk around in. I rate it a 7.
Indian Springs (Calistoga) (cottages) - Rated 8
The original lodgings at Indian Springs. Studios and two-bedroom units with living rooms porches and history. They have attracted families and friends for decades with their simplicity and outdoor environs. Perhaps most alluring are the porches, where guests can be found sipping morning coffee and nightly cocktails, greeting each other as resort life unfolds around them. It’s an Indian Springs tradition. Indian Springs gets an 8 if cottage is rented. Soundproofing not too good, and more cottages need updating. Fantastic pool area, small kids sandbox for digging, bocce ball court and good outdoor space. Lot’s of grass to run around. Parents MUST get a cottage as smaller rooms are for adults only!
